Bogey Bay Golf & Emotional Support Club

Eighteen championship holes, one active volcano, a unionized herd of goat caddies, and the only par 6 in the hemisphere that requires a signed waiver. Come for the golf. Stay because the shuttle left.

Signature Holes

Four holes our insurer has asked us to stop advertising

Course architect Dennis Barnacle had never played golf when he designed Bogey Bay. He has since played golf, and he stands by nothing.

3

The Laundry Chute

Par 4 412 yds Downhill 40°

A blind tee shot into a ravine so steep the cart path has a chairlift. Nobody has ever seen the green from the tee box, including the groundskeeper, who insists it is there.

Hazard: gravity, mostly

7

Old Rumbly

Par 5 Volcano Waiver req.

Plays 580 yards around the crater rim, or 190 straight across it if you are having a bad week. The fairway is warm. The greens fee includes one (1) fire blanket.

Hazard: lava, ash, regret

12

The Goat Parliament

Par 3 148 yds Livestock

The green is shared with 40 goats who have collective bargaining rights. If a goat eats your ball you may take a free drop, but you must apologize to the goat first, out loud, using its name.

Hazard: chewing, judgment

16

The Nap Hole

Par 0 0 yds Mandatory

There is no green. There is no tee. There is a hammock, a small pillow, and a volunteer named Ruth who will wake you in 20 minutes. Play through at your own risk. Ruth notices.

Hazard: dreams

17

Island Green, Island Tee

Par 4 300 yds Bring a boat

Both the tee box and the green are islands. So is the fairway. So is the 150 marker. The lake was not in the original plans and we are not sure where it came from.

Hazard: water, on all sides, forever

18

The Long Goodbye

Par 6 1,004 yds Snack cart × 3

The longest closing hole in recorded golf. It has its own weather system, two rest stops, and a small unincorporated village at the 600 marker where you can buy a sandwich and reconsider your life.

Hazard: the passage of time

"Course is in immaculate shape. Docked one star because a goat named Deborah ate my scorecard while making direct eye contact with me."

🐐 Marla Pinseeker Handicap: unresolved

★★★★★

"I came here to play 18 and instead I napped on hole 16 for forty minutes and woke up a better father. Also I shot 137."

Local Rules

The Bogey Bay code of conduct

Collared shirts required. The collar may belong to any garment, on any animal.
A ball that comes to rest on a goat is played as it lies until the goat objects.
Balls landing inside the crater are lost, ceremonially, and are not to be pursued.
Gimmes are anything inside the length of the putter, the flagstick, or your arm span.
Do not honk at the geese. They have a lawyer and she is very good.
Hole 16 is mandatory. Ruth keeps a list. You do not want to be on the list.
Mulligans cost $2 and are payable in exact change to whoever is nearest.
Yelling "fore" after the ball has already landed is considered a taunt.
